Children in grades K-8th learn about the Catholic faith with their peers. Classes meet weekly throughout the school year and are taught by volunteer catechists. The ministry of a catechist is to be a witness of the faith by proclaiming Christ’s message, developing community, leading people to worship and prayer, and motivating them to serve others (NDC 213).
Los niños que cursan K-8vo grado aprenden lo relacionado a la Fe Católica con sus compañeros. Las clases son de caracter semanal durante el año escolar. Las clases son impartidas por catequistas voluntarios.
Students are taught by catechists who donate their time and talent to the children of our parish. Registration fees are waived for catechist’s children!
The requirements for this ministry are:
| Baptized, Confirmed & practicing Catholic | |
| At least 18 years of age for Catechists, 14 for Assistant Catechists | |
| Life is evidence of desire to live according to Catholic Christian virtues | |
| Attendance of catechist training and formation events | |
| EIM (Ethics and Integrity in Ministry) certified |
This home-based method provides a quality faith education by enabling one-on-one catechesis and allowing the material to be paced and tailored for each child. By giving parents the lead role as catechist this program encourages family communication, develops the concrete application of faith principles in the home and allows the parents understanding of the faith to grow. This method is not for every family. It is time intensive and requires self-discipline, along with an understanding of the basic faith principles of the Catholic Church. There are four mandatory group meetings to monitor progress and award credit at the end of the year.

Landings is a ministry of invitation and support to persons who have been away from the Catholic Church and who would like to explore the possibility of returning. This is a lay-based ministry in which members meet as a team with, and share, their stories with those who are thinking of giving the Church another chance. Training for facilitators is required.
