First Reconciliation & First Eucharist (First Communion)
Preparation for these two sacraments occurs in the child’s 2nd grade year. If your child is older than the 2nd grade and wishes to receive these sacraments please contact the RE Office at 251-9842.
Confirmation
Two consecutive years of formal Religious Education must precede this sacrament, which is normally recieved in the 9th grade. If the student has not previously been enrolled in a formal RE class or Catholic school during the 7th and 8th grade years they may attend the Introduction to Confirmation class and enter into the Confirmation class the following year. The Introduction to Confirmation class meets weekly on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm throughout the school year.
Students who have attended RE or Catholic school in 7th and 8th grade may attend the Confirmation class in their 9th grade year and are Confirmed the following spring. The Confirmation class consists of 8 weekly sessions that meet on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm and an off-church retreat experience.
Baptism For Older Children
Youth ages 7 to 18 or grades 2nd to 12th who are not baptized are welcomed into the Catholic Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Adapted for Children. This year-long process prepares the child for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist and Reconciliation and welcomes them into full communion with the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil. Parent participation is requested.
