(Williamson County Young Adult)
Why are we here?
WilCoYA unites young adults with each other, Jesus our Lord and the Catholic Church. We wish to explore our rich Catholic faith and our love for Jesus Christ. Our ministry has had a great start and, with your help, we can continue to have a great time and grow in our faith together.
The ministry was brought to life by Fr. James Misko of St. Elizabeth in Pflugerville after seeing that there was not an established young adult ministry in the Williamson County area. Fr. James, in coordination with Fr. Jonathan Raia of St. William, Fr. Will Straten of St. Helen in Georgetown and a few young adult parishioners got the ministry started at the beginning of 2010.
What do we do?
Our activities are grouped into four categories: Social, Study, Spiritual, and Service. We do our best to balance the mix of activities to fit into these categories. If there is any specific event you would like to see take place, please plan to participate in our meetings and bring it up as a suggestion!
Weekly study meetings such as:
- Intro to Theology of the Body
- Dinner with Fulton Sheen
Monthly spiritual events such as:
- Vespers
- Adoration
- Young Adult Mass
Social events such as:
- Easter picnic on Lake Pflugerville
- Salsa dancing
- Movie nights
Who is invited?
WilCoYA is a Catholic group in the Williamson County area including Georgetown, Round Rock and Pflugerville. While we are focused on Williamson County, all young adults are welcome to join. What's our definition of "young" you ask? Adults ages 18 (and out of high school) to 39 are invited to join our ministry. You will find people of your age within the group, so don't feel out of place. We are always looking for new members to join our ministry so feel free to invite your friends as well.
How do you get involved?
We meet weekly to plan events and arrange who will be responsible for each. If you are looking for a way to get directly involved, this is the place for you! Our events are planned directly by the members of the group, so you have direct impact on what the group does. If you are not able to take part in the meetings, you can still participate with the ministry! Keep an eye on the Sunday bulletins, or check out our web site for events. Hope to see you soon!
